Sanam Teri Kasam Re-release Box Office Day 13: The world has been tracking re-releases like never before, shaping a new parallel cinema culture that could establish itself permanently. Thanks to films like Sanam Teri Kasam, Tumbbad, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the idea of a second theatrical run has proven to be even more successful than expected. The latest example is the Harshvardhan Rane starrer, which has far exceeded expectations, earning over three times its original lifetime collection in less than two weeks. It has now surpassed Tumbbad to become the highest-grossing re-release in India.
Recently, we reported that Sanam Teri Kasam—considering both its ₹9 crore lifetime earnings from its original 2016 run and the re-release collections—has now become a profitable venture. Originally made on an ₹18 crore budget, the film has finally found its audience, marking a remarkable turnaround. Now, it has surpassed the re-release collections of Tumbbad, securing its place as India's biggest re-release.
According to Pinkvilla, on Day 13, the film earned the same amount as Day 12, standing at ₹65 lakh. This brings the re-release’s grand total to ₹32.55 crore, excluding the original collection. With this, it has overtaken Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad, which earned ₹31.35 crore upon its re-release last year. Interestingly, both films were considered box-office flops in their original theatrical runs but have found a new lease on life during re-releases.
Speaking to News18 about a possible sequel, Harshvardhan Rane shared, “I’m just a channel here. I’m looking for the right collaboration to make it happen. It’s said that with great power comes great responsibility, and with love comes even greater responsibility. If someone loves you, you must ensure you treat them with the utmost respect and place them on a pedestal.”
Discussing how the filmmakers share the same responsibility, Rane expressed his eagerness to push for Sanam Teri Kasam 2. He even stated that he is willing to stand outside the producer’s office to make it happen. Interestingly, the sequel was announced last September, though no director was mentioned.
“Step one was me posting on social media for Sanam Teri Kasam to get re-released. Step two was standing outside Deepak sir’s office. Step three was getting the film finally re-released. Step four was my dream of seeing ‘House Full’ boards outside cinema halls—something I’ve never witnessed in my career. And the final step is the fifth one, where you’ll find me outside his office again, requesting him to make part two. I have no awkwardness about it. I’m ready to do it,” he remarked.
