Netflix is launching its Milestone Movies collection, starting with classics turning 50 in 2024. The initial wave includes iconic films such as Mel Brooks's Blazing Saddles and Jack Nicholson-led Chinatown. This collection aims to address the absence of Old Hollywood movies on Netflix, providing a showcase for Hollywood hits predating 1970. To further celebrate film anniversaries, Netflix plans to add more titles throughout 2024, starting with 1984 releases in April, followed by 1994 titles in June and 2004 films in October. In addition to streaming, Netflix has organized in-person screenings at prominent theatres. The 1974 classics collection offers a diverse range of films, including works by directors like Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese.

‘Until Dawn’ movie adaptation in the works by ‘Shazam!’ Director, David F. Sandberg

Filmmaker David F. Sandberg, who is best known for his work in DC’s Shazam! franchise, is set to direct the film adaptation of the popular PlayStation horror game Until Dawn. The screenplay is in the hands of Gary Dauberman, the writer behind It and The Nun. The collaboration is between Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions, adding to PlayStation Productions' successful track record with game adaptations like The Last of Us and Uncharted. Sandberg, returning to horror after his DC ventures, has a strong background in the genre with films like Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation. Until Dawn, released in 2015, is a horror game that unfolds a gripping narrative as a group of friends gets snowed in at a mountain cabin, blending classic slasher elements with supernatural twists and interactive gameplay. The film, promising a rated-R horror experience, is anticipated to be a love letter to the genre.
