Director Bala has been planning to make a multi-starrer from sometime, and a few years ago, there were news of Arya, Rana and Vishal teaming up for the same. The project didn't materialize and he went on to make Tharai Thappattai, Naachiyar and Varmaa. Though the first two films garnered decent reviews from critics and audience alike, Varmaa, the first remake of Arjun Reddy in Tamil, was mired in controversies after it was wrapped up.
The production team of the movie, which marked Dhruv Vikram's debut, expressed disappointment over its outcome and decided to put it on the back burner. The project was made again with a new director and a different female lead with the title Adithya Varma. Later, Varmaa was premiered on Simply South last year.
Looks like Bala is gearing up to make his next project. The grapevine has it that this is the multi-starrer he was planning to make earlier. Atharvaa, with whom the filmmaker earlier made Paradesi in 2013, is said to be playing the protagonist in the movie. Bala had produced Atharvaa-starrer Chandi Veeran in 2015, and is currently bankrolling Visithiran, the Tamil remake of Malayalam film Joseph. The news of the duo joining hands again for a project has piqued the curiousity of Tamil movie buffs.
As if this isn't enough, speculation is doing the rounds that Suriya will play a cameo in the project, and that Yuvan Shankar Raja is likely to come on board. The reunion of Suriya and Bala would be another exciting thing to happen for film enthusiasts. The star's Nandha and Pithamagan, which had the filmmaker at the helm, was loved by critics and audience alike. Fans of Suriya was elated when he teamed up with Gautham Menon after more than a decade for Netflix's recent release Navarasa. They hope their favourite star's reunion with Bala would create another magic on screen.
