Sylvester Stallone mourns Rocky costar Carl Weathers, pays tribute with a special message, ‘Keep Punching’

The loss of Rocky star Carl Weathers has shaken up the entertainment industry of Hollywood. Many stars are still reeling from the shock of the actor’s demise on Friday at 76 and one of them is iconic action star Sylvester Stallone, who shared a screen with Carl Weathers in Rocky. Stallone paid tribute to his ‘Apollo Creed’ with a special video message on his social media. The death news was confirmed by the Weathers family as they shared the devastating news with the world.

Rocky’s Sylvester Stallone on costar death

The iconic star of the boxing franchise, Sylvester Stallone aka Rocky Balboa paid a heartfelt tribute to his old friend and costar Carl Weathers, who played the boxer Apollo Creed in Rocky and the duo had an energetic fight in the ring in the two installments of the film.

Taking to his Instagram, the Tulsa King star shared a 1-minute-long video message to remember his time with the Predator star and expressed grief on losing a legend a day prior in his sleep. Stallone also added that his life changed forever after meeting Carl Weathers.

“I mean, I’m so torn up I can’t even tell you. I’m just trying to hold it in because Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life, my success, everything about it. I never could have accomplished what we did with Rocky without him. He was absolutely brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability, but more importantly, his heart, his soul. It’s a horrible loss,” a part of the video post shared.

It’s also fascinating to decode that Stallone chose to share his love and respect for Weathers with a Rocky twist. He revealed in the video that he was standing in front of an abstract painting, featuring him with Weathers and reminisced over their unforgettable last moment in the ring together.

“He was magic, and I was so fortunate to be part of his life. So, Apollo, keep punching,” he concluded the post.
