Looks like the boycott trend for Bollywood films is here to stay for sometime. After people managed to boycott Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan 'successfully', all eyes were on Taapsee-starrer Dobaaraa which was released on Friday.
The Anurag Kashyap directorial is an official remake of Spanish movie Mirage. Many have been taking to Twitter to express their disinterest in watching the film and coming up with insane reasons to boycott it. During one of the promotions, both Anurag and Taapsee had jokingly encouraged people to boycott Dobaaraa.
But this didn't go well with some of the audience. They went ahead and started spreading more negativity towards the film and allege that the filmmaker and the actor were mocking movie lovers. The movie has opened to decent reviews from critics, but the film has only netted a little more than 70 lakh across the country.
A couple of film critics mocked the occupancy of the movie on its first day of release. This irked filmmaker Hansal Mehta; he took to Twitter and came down heavily on them. He said that they are now making fun of the film industry which has been feeding them all these years. Mehta also added that 72 lacs at the box office from 370 screens isn't a bad number.
Taapsee replied to his tweet saying that repeated lies can't make a truth and went on to add that Dobaaraa is too intelligent a film for those self-proclaimed critics to understand.
A few people in the comment section asked Taapsee to relax and not to be bothered about trolls while a few hate-spewing members of Twitterati kept urging others to watch Mirage instead of Dobaaraa.
