The Brothers Sun (Netflix)

In Netflix's upcoming series The Brothers Sun, Californian Bruce Sun’s life takes a dark turn when his elder brother Charles (played by Justin Chien) reveals their family's gangster past in Taipei. Forced to relocate to Los Angeles for safety, Charles navigates the criminal underworld, while Bruce grapples with adapting to this unexpected legacy. The stellar cast, including Michelle Yeoh as "Mama" Sun and Highdee Kuan as Alexis, bring this black comedy action series to life. As Bruce discovers his family's criminal roots, The Brothers Sun promises a gripping exploration of loyalty, crime, and unforeseen challenges in the bustling city of LA.

Echo (Disney+ Hotstar)

In the upcoming Disney+ miniseries Echo, a spin-off of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's “Hawkeye”, Alaqua Cox reprises her role as Maya Lopez, aka Echo. Set to be released on January 9, 2024, the five-episode series follows Maya as she returns to her Oklahoma hometown after being pursued by Wilson Fisk's organisation. Directed by Sydney Freeland, the show explores Maya's journey to reconcile with her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace her family and community. The cast includes Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, Cody Lightning, and Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Marvel Studios' Echo is part of Phase Five of the MCU under the "Marvel Spotlight" banner. The narrative unfolds following the events of "Hawkeye" in New York City, where Maya faces the consequences of her association with the Tracksuit Mafia, a gang working for Wilson Fisk.

Criminal Record (Apple TV+)

Premiering on Apple TV+ on January 10, 2024, Criminal Record is a British crime thriller series created by Paul Rutman. The show revolves around an old murder case that resurfaces due to an anonymous phone call. The series stars Peter Capaldi as seasoned Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Cush Jumbo as early-career Detective Sergeant June Lenker. As the two detectives clash over the reopened investigation, the show promises intense drama and a compelling exploration of the complexities within the criminal justice system.

Masters of the Air (Disney+)

Premiering on January 26, 2024, on Apple TV+, Masters of the Air is an American war drama miniseries based on Donald L. Miller's book of the same name. Created by John Shiban and John Orloff, the series follows the 100th Bomb Group of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, known as the "Bloody Hundredth" due to significant combat losses. Serving as a companion to Band of Brothers and The Pacific, the show began production in England in 2021 but faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Masters of the Air promises a compelling narrative of the bomber boys' and the significant steps they took against Nazi Germany during World War II.

Griselda (Netflix)

Directed by Andrés Baiz and produced by Eric Newman and Sofía Vergara, the American crime drama miniseries Griselda premieres on Netflix on January 25, 2024. Based on the life of Griselda Blanco, a notorious cocaine trafficker, the show delves into the underworld of Miami, Florida, in the 1980s. Sofía Vergara takes on the role of Griselda Blanco, also known as the "Godmother of Cocaine." The main cast includes Alberto Guerra as Darío Sepúlveda- Griselda's third husband, Martin Rodriguez as Jorge "Rivi" Ayala-Rivera (Griselda's top hitman), Juliana Aidén Martinez as June Hawkins, Vanessa Ferlito as Isabel, and Christian Tappan as Arturo Mesa. Focussing on Griselda's prominence in the cocaine trade, the series promises an intense and gripping portrayal of her life and activities in the criminal underworld.

Expats (Prime Video)

Created by Lulu Wang and based on Janice Y. K. Lee's novel The Expatriates, the upcoming American drama series Expats premieres on Amazon Prime Video on January 26, 2024. The show explores the lives of a close-knit expatriate community, where affluence is celebrated, friendships are intense but temporary, and personal stories unfold publicly and are retold with glee. The cast includes Nicole Kidman as Margaret, Ji-young Yoo as Mercy, Jack Huston as David Starr, Sarayu Blue as Hilary Starr, Brian Tee as Clarke, Flora Chan as Olive, Ruby Ruiz as Essie, and Will Or. Choir (Disney+)

The original docuseries Choir will premiere all six episodes on January 31, 2024 on Disney+Hotstar. The series follows the Detroit Youth Choir as they prepare for a life-changing performance. Directed by Rudy Valdez, the show captures the highs and lows of growing up in Detroit while pursuing dreams amid challenges. The narrative focuses on the choir's director, Anthony White, as they navigate changes post their 2019 America’s Got Talent appearance.

True Detective: Night Country season 4

The highly-anticipated fourth season of True Detective, the American anthology crime drama series created by Nic Pizzolatto, is scheduled to premiere on HBO on January 14, 2024. Set in the fictional town of Ennis, Alaska, the season delves into the investigation surrounding the mysterious disappearance of eight men from a research station. Titled Night Country, this season introduces a subtitle. Jodie Foster and Kali Reis take on the roles of Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro. For the first time, Issa López serves as showrunner, writer, and director, marking a shift from Pizzolatto's previous roles.
