Kaddha Chitra
Vijay Raghavendra plays a published author called Vijay, who faces a massive plagiarism allegation. How this impacts him on the professional and personal front forms part of the narrative, while the rest follows a crime. The film is director Suhas Krishna’s debut vehicle and Vijay’s first release since tragically losing his wife, Spandana.
Miss Shetty Mr Poli Shetty (dubbed)
Anushka Shetty plays a chef, who’s reluctant about marriage, while Naveen Polishetty is a struggling standup comedian, who barely makes money but thinks highly of himself. What happens when these two fall in love after he begins to perform at her hotel forms the crux of the narrative. The Telugu film gets a Kannada dubbed version (there is a Kannada trailer), but bookings for this are yet to open. It remains to be seen if the Kannada version gets a few screens amid the Jawan rampage.

Jailer (dubbed)
Superstar Rajinikanth’s blockbuster film is finally headed to OTT. Although the film has been produced by Sun Pictures, the digital rights of Jailer were picked up by Amazon Prime Video. The film follows a retired Jailer, Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth), whose son, a police officer, whose investigations into stolen idols that are replaced with cheap replicas, lands him in trouble with the perpetrators. The narrative follows how Muthuvel then tries to safeguard his family. The film had a fantastic theatrical run in Karnataka, with the Kannada version also doing decent business and raking in just over Rs 5 crore. Jailer was also widely lauded for Century Star Shivarajkumar’s cameo as Narasimhan.
Lucia
Kannada filmmaker Pawan Kumar’s debut film Lucia is back in theatres for a couple of days on the occasion of the 10thanniversary of its release. The psychological thriller drama, which had Satish Ninasam in the lead, along with Sruthi Hariharan, was the first-ever crowd-funded film in Kannada. Satish played an usher at a movie hall, who struggles with insomnia. When he is offered a mysterious pill that will not only solve his problem, but also allow him to literally live his dreams, he takes it up. But this comes with potential side effects. The film is currently in theatres till September 7.
