The countdown has begun and in another few days, the UEFA European Championship 2024 will kickstart at host country Germany’s Allianz Arena — the home ground of Bayern Munich – in Munich. Germany will take on Scotland in the first match. Altogether 24 countries will play 51 latches to determine the best of Europe. Legends, including French striker Kylian Mbappe, Portuguese icon Christiano Ronaldo, Belgian Romelu Lukaku, and others, will fight it out to fetch the Golden Boot. However, some players will have to give the tournament a miss. Here is a lowdown on footballers who will NOT be in the UEFA European Championship 2024. Is your favourite player on the list? Erling Haaland, Norway
Norway’s Erling Haaland – the strongman of Manchester City – will miss the tournament despite his fabulous performance in the Premier League. His National team, Norway, failed to qualify for the UEFA European Championship 2024.
Marcus Rashford, England
English football fans were left in shock when Marcus Rashford was kept out of the squad. Along with him, his Manchester United mate Jardon Sancho is also out of the tournament. According to some, Manchester United’s unimpressive performance in 2023-24 did not help their case.
Paul Pogba, France
Despite his brilliant performance in World Cup 2018, French midfielder Paul Pogba had to miss the World Cup 2022 due to his injuries. He is back in his fitness session. However, the French footballer is currently facing a doping ban for four years after testing positive for a prohibited drug.
Gavi, Spain
Central midfielder Gavi – a regular on the Barcelona side – will miss this tournament as he is still recovering from an ACL injury. In November 2023, he sustained a knee injury during the UEFA European Championship 2024 qualifier match between Spain and Georgia.
