Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the release of his film JugJugg Jeeyo, a family entertainer helmed by Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar. But the actor recently revealed that the upcoming film, and his next Bhediya, were not ‘easy choices’ in his career.
In conversation with Cosmopolitan India, the actor talked about how, in the two films, he played characters who were vastly different from the characters he used to play. “I have not made easy choices, especially in the two films I am doing right now, said Dhawan. He talked about how the films did not feature him as a ‘smart alec’, who wore tight clothes and had plenty of one liners to say.
The actor talked about how he took inspiration from his own life for JugJugg Jeeyo. He joked that for Bhediya, his preparation involved spending some time with dogs.
Dhawan talked about how he wanted his films to positively impact people. He said that he was an actor at the end of the day, and did not want to pretend to be something more. The actor talked about how he wanted to make films that would hopefully make people forget about their problems for a little while, which is the kind of positive impact he was aiming for. Saying that that was the basic ‘gist’ of doing films, Dhawan said that he did not want to give himself or the industry more credit than that.
In JugJugg Jeeyo, Dhawan will share the screen with Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. The film is scheduled for release on June 24. Bhediya, directed by Amar Kaushik, also stars Kriti Sanon as the female lead.
