Vidaamuyarchi box office collection Day 2: Ajith-Trisha's film sees a major drop of 60 percent, will it pick up during weekend?

Vidaamuyarchi box office collection Day 2: Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith Kumar, made a solid start at the box office when it released in theatres on February 6, 2025. But there was a major shift in the box office narrative on day 2, with the Tamil action thriller earning only 10.25 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Here is the box office collection of Ajith Kumar’s latest film Vidaamuyarchi.

Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith Kumar and Trisha in the lead role, earned around 10.25 crore on day 2 at the box office. The total collection of the Tamil action thriller stands at Rs 36.25 crore, Sacnilk reported.

The day one collection of Vidaamuyarchi was at Rs 26 crore, ensuring that the Ajith Kumar-starrer got a solid start at the box office. However, the film witnessed a steep drop of 60 per c ent on the very next day, earning Rs 10.25 crore. This does not look promising for the Tamil star’s film. But the drop could also be attributed to February 7 (Friday) being a working day. The film is expected to earn more during the weekend. On day 3, its first Saturday, the action thriller has already earned Rs 4.01 crore, as per the early estimates on Sacnilk.

Vidaamuyarchi also benefits from the lack of any other major Tamil release this week. Even in other South Indian languages, the major release is Thandel from the Telugu industry. However, the Telugu film, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, has not made much of an impact at the Tamil Nadu box office, with only Rs 5 lakh reportedly earned on its opening day. This means that Ajith Kumar and Magizh Thirumeni’s film has the entire Valintine’s Week at the box office, and that is considerable time to change the fortunes.

Vidaamuyarchi marked Ajith Kumar’s return to the big screen after a hiatus of 2 years and fans celebrated the arrival which is evident from the good pre-sales business that the film recorded. This in turn reflected in the day 1 box office collections. Though the lead star’s performance impressed most of the viewers, a section of the audience felt that the Magizh Thirumeni film failed to cater to the Thala fans’ expectations.
