Vijay Antony's Tamilarasan joins the list of Tamil films releasing on January 26

The shooting of Vijay Antony-starrer Tamilarasan was wrapped up long ago. Babu Yogeswaran has directed the cop thriller which has Ilaiyaraaja composing music. Suresh Gopi and Sonu Sood will be seen essaying crucial roles in the film which has Ramya Nambeesan playing the female lead. 

Tamilarasan was initially supposed to have a release in December, though the makers delayed their plans for reasons known only to them. Now, they have announced that the film will release on January 26. Vishal's Veerame Vaagai Soodum was the first movie to have announced a release on Republic Day. GV Prakash-starrer Ayngaran is another movie which is expected to hit the screens on the same date.

RD Rajasekhar has cranked the camera for Tamilarasan which is produced by S Kowsalya Rani under the banner SNS Production. Chaya Singh, Sangeetha Krish, Yogi Babu, Pandiarajan and Kasthuri among others will be seen in notable roles in the movie which also marks the acting debut of Pranav, son of director Mohan Raja.

Suresh Gopi, who was last seen in Shankar's I (streaming on Zee5) in Tamil, is making a comeback to Kollywood with this movie by essaying the role of a doctor. On the other hand, Sonu Sood was last seen in the horror-comedy Devi 2 (streaming on Zee5).

Vijay Antony's last release was Kodiyil Oruvan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which released soon after theatres were opened in Tamil Nadu after restrictions were eased in the state post the second lockdown. The movie was one of the profitable ventures in Tamil last year.

Tamilarasan was in the news last year when Vijay Antony announced his decision to take a pay cut of 25 per cent as a mark of expressing solidarity with producers and filmmakers who were suffering due to the lockdown.
