Vinay Rajkumar – Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe has romance, comedy and family emotions

Director Suni was on actor Vinay Rajkumar’s radar for a while, but for some reason or the other, the duo were not able to collaborate until sometime in 2023, when the filmmaker was free for a while and wanted to quickly make a movie. Suni had a story from a writer called Prasanna, that he was developing with his team and when he then stumbled upon an image of Vinay amid a crowd, it struck him that he’d found the leading man for the film – someone who could easily pull off a boy-next-door, very normal Chikpete resident role.

Vinay says that when Suni approached him for Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe, he was excited about the collaboration, but even more so when he realized that the story was nice, with elements of romance, comedy and family emotions. It was the perfect package, he reckoned. Talking about Suni’s observation that he found a really simple man in Vinay who embodied the character of Athishay perfectly, the actor said that his casting seemed apt because the character has to be relatable to the audience, something he can carry off.

The beauty of the character, adds the actor, is that he has great relationships with the people around him, including his father, played by Rajesh Nataranga, and mother, played by Aruna Balraj, and many others. An aspiring music director who works for composer Sadhu Kokila, Athishay, has only two goals in life – to be surrounded by music and be a composer, and find the girl of his dreams. Unlike most guys, who have a certain idea about how their dream girl should be, Athishay has no such criteria, but is on the lookout for someone who will match the rhythm of his heart.

Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe, meanwhile, is Vinay’s first major release since Ananthu vs Nusrath. He did have 10 in between, but that film went completely unnoticed, as it was released without any promotion in December 2022, and put on OTT within a week. This year, the actor will have at least 2 more releases, Pepe and Andonditu Kaala, both of which are ready. They will be scheduled for release a month or two after his brother Yuva Rajkumar’s Yuva hits theatres.
