It’s been several days since social media has been abuzz with rumours of the Prashant Neel directed film being pushed ahead, but makers Hombale Films have been mysteriously silent

Salaar is, undoubtedly, one of the biggest projects and most widely anticipated projects from Hombale Films. The Prabhas-led film has been pegged as a September 28 release for quite a while, and in recent times, there were reports that director Prashant Neel was holed up with music director Ravi Basrur to finalise post-production. The trailer was supposed to be released by September 6 or 7, with promotional interviews to begin by the 14th.
But then, a few days ago, a rumour that Salaar was being postponed indefinitely cropped up and almost immediately, a mad scramble began among film teams from across industries to take up the slot supposedly vacated by Prabhas and co. Several films like Fukrey 3, Tiger Nageshwara Rao, Baanadariyalli, Parking, Chittha, Iraivan, among others, have now announced September 28 as their release date. Several possible permutations began cropping up for when Salaar could be in theatres, with Diwali and Sankranti ranking high, especially after ticket aggregator site BookMyShow moved the film from September to November on the upcoming movies list.
Strangely enough, amid all this, there’s not been a peep from Hombale Films confirming or denying the postponement of Salaar. Fans have been hoping that the rumour turns out to be false, as any other date would mean that Salaar will be in competition with biggies like Tiger 3 or Dunki or will push his own Kalki 2898 AD ahead. The makers, reckon netizens, would want to avoid a clash with Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan, so as to capture a good chunk of the north Indian market, much like KGF: Chapter 2.
“All these conflicting posts about Salaar’s release date are playing with my emotions,” wrote a fan, a sentiment that was echoed by many others. It is being said that delays in the post-production is what prompted a change in plan for Hombale Films. By all accountrs, it does seem that Salaar will be pushed ahead, but what if, after all this, Hombale FIlms goes ahead with September 28 after all? Netizens are hopeful that the production house will provide clarity today, on the occasion of Teacher's Day, considering that Shruthi Haasan is playing a teacher in the film.
