Lampan is all set to stream on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium on May 16. Helmed by Nipun Dharmadhikari, the series will focus on Mihir Godbole’s character, Lampan. The show holds a special place in the hearts of Marathi viewers. There’s a reason for it. Lampan is adapted from a renowned poet, Prakash Narayan Sant’s, novels. Lampan is a popular character from his stories. Here, we take a look at why Lampan became popular among Marathi viewers.

Connects with all age groups

Lampan is the sweet story of a boy who goes to school and lives away from home, with his grandparents. Almost everyone has experienced this at least at some point in their lives. It does not end there. Lampan has an innocence one can only find in children. He questions the smallest of things that he hopes to understand before growing up. Takes you back, doesn’t it? The series promises to explore the very thing.

An evergreen story

While the tale was set in 1947, it remains evergreen because of the approach. Any child can and does experience all that Lampan experiences in his school, at home, with his family and his grandparents. Thus, with the series, you are bound to hit a replay on your own childhood.

A connection with pets

While grown-ups, especially in today’s times, are fond of pets, children are always more attracted to them since both pets and children share a similar innocence. In comparison to adults, children and pets can be there for one another. Thus, when pets play a huge part in the story around Lampan, you know it will warm your heart. The pets, who cannot and do not speak the same language as humans, help guide children better than humans probably can. This is a major plus point in the story and the reason why it is so appealing.

Seeking mother and God

No matter the age, almost everybody prays to God and wishes to be with their mother. Lampan too has a wish that remains unfulfilled and he looks to God. Not just him, every person around him is devoted and that gets instilled through all stories by Prakash Narayan Sant. He craves for his mother when apart, just like most do when away from/without a mother. It is likely that the show will focus on that as well. If the web series ticks all of the aspects, it is likely to connect with the viewers once again.
