Revenge thriller Wonderful World has concluded with its final episode 14 premiering recently on Disney+ Hotstar. The series had a steady run with all-time high rankings due to its top-notch cast and mystery narrative. Here’s a quick recap if you missed the final episode, along with the explanation of the future twist that showcases how the characters have moved on in their lives.

Wonderful World ending explanation

Episode 14, or finale, begins with a faceoff between Soo-hyun (Kim Nam-joo) and a corrupt politician (Park Hyuk-Kwon). When Soo-hyun tries to file a complaint against presidential candidate Kim Joon as the new murderer of her son Gunwoo, she faces the ripple effect of power and corruption but doesn’t budge. She is accompanied in the battle of justice and truth by her former enemy-turned-friend Seon-yul. The dynamic duo team up to fight against the odds by standing up to Kim-joon.

When police refuse to file a complaint against the new perpetrator, Soo-hyun finds another way by using her book launch event and press conference to disseminate information. Meanwhile, Seon-yul confronts Kim-joon on a rooftop and records his murder confession for his mother and Gunwoo, but gets trapped when his henchmen catch him with a recording device and beat him mercilessly.

Despite the stormy weather, Soo-hyun gets the support of her ex-students and former accomplices in her justice battle, with each one standing sternly with their umbrellas, symbolizing the poster of the drama.

During the climax, we see Soo-hyun's husband Suho (Kim Kang-woo) playing a pivotal role in seeking justice for his only child. He uses the power of broadcast media to reveal the dirty politics of Kim Joon with circumstantial evidence. In the flashback, we witness that he never turned his back on his wife but only pretended to be on Kim Joon’s side. He teamed up with his former colleague and Seon-yul to unveil the dark truth, but he risks his career by going against the orders and giving his resignation. Later, police arrest Kim Joon from his campaign rally, and the public celebrates with Soo-hyun.

What happens to Soo-hyun and Seon-yul in future leap?

Wonderful World takes a leap of six years and showcases a happy ending for each character. Soo-hyun chooses to find solace and contentment by volunteering for orphaned children. She also fulfills her dream by returning as a best-selling author. Suho has become the type of boss he always aspired to be when he was a junior reporter: supportive, kind, and bold. We also get a clear picture that he was not sacked for irrational exposure but was just punished. Yuri gets ahead in her career with a successful boutique and big deals. Soo-hyun's mother is taken care of by his son-in-law as a part of his family.

While Suho’s brother has found his love in Seon-yul's artist friend, Suho and Soo-hyun get divorced but are no longer bitter with each other but happy about their former partner’s success. Seon-yul is seen fulfilling his dead parent’s wish by becoming a doctor and saving lives like he always wanted.

In a nutshell, every character finds his way to “Wonderful life” and the post-credits scene highlights the book signing event of Soo-hyun's new book “Wonderful World,” where the duo meets again and smiles as they accept their fate and decide to move on with life.

The revenge thriller, Wonderful World, is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
