The otherwise dull ride over the past couple of years for the Marvel Cinematic Universe was shifted to a good mood by the entry of mutants in the storyline. The animated show X-Men 97 that came after the successful Echo was a cherry on top, as it managed to draw an audience and make them fall in love with the same. There has been a massive buzz around the IP, which is a direct continuation of the 90s show that was also quite popular back in the day.

Now, as we are in the week where the finale of season one has aired on Disney+, there is this craving for the second season that has left us curious. The fact that the creators have worked on two seasons together and that the wait won't be much longer is a given, but in the meantime, creator Beau DeMayo’s firing also comes as a shock. Let's decode the drama around the same.

What's Happening With X-Men 97 Season 2?

The successful streak of season one has surely left the makers with the urge to bring us season two as soon as they can. X-Men 97 season 1 did a fine job of setting up the second season and even had multiple teases in the course of the finale episode. However, there have been no details about the plot. What we know is that Marvel has decided to work on bulk seasons for this particular IP because it was said that the makers have greenlit seasons 3 and 4 and will develop them together like they did the first two.

As for season 2, as per scooper MCM Culture, X-Men 97 season 2 is officially in the editing stage as we speak. The makers are right now creating the show for us swiftly so they can release it soon and make the most of the momentum they have gotten. There are no details around the release window of the show yet, but if the nature of rumours is to go by, there will not be a very long wait.

But What About Beau DeMayo's Firing?

It is a shock that many are still processing. As the season kicked off, everybody was praising creator Beau DeMayo, who was also very active on social media to answer fan doubts and questions about the show. But suddenly it was revealed that Marvel has now fired Beau from his position on X-Men 97 and he will no longer be associated with the show. It is said that his company email was deactivated and the cast and crew were informed he was no longer a part of the show. However, there is no reason for his firing from the show yet.

What Does Beau DeMayo Say?

Even Beau DeMayo has not revealed the reason behind his dramatic firing from X-Men 97. The filmmaker, however, has now spoken about his involvement with the second season of the show. As per his latest X post, the creator has said that he has been a part of a major chunk of the writing of the second season. He also confirmed that he will no longer be a part of any aspect of the production of the show and has no say in the creative process for it.

“I did write a lot of (X-Men 97) Season 2,” DeMayo wrote. “However, unlike Season 1, I will not be heavily involved or leading production, cast records, design, editorial, post, music, etc., nor doing any production rewrites as it relates to the creative vision of the show. This is why I’ve said I can’t really speak to Season 2. But, looking forward to seeing the final product with you all whenever it airs. I have high hopes.”

We hope this helps streamline the confusion. As we wait for X-Men 97 season 2, you can watch all the episodes of season one on Disney+ Hotstar in India. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else in the world of streaming and films.
