The Traitors India Overview: Hosted by Karan Johar, Prime Video's The Traitors India premiered on Prime Video on June 12th. It is an adaptation of the American series of the same name, which itself is based on the Dutch series De Verraders. The Traitors India started with 20 contestants, including three traitors. The contestants were Anshula Kapoor, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elnaaz Nourouzi, Harsh Gujral, Jannat Zubair, Janvi Gaur, Jasmine Bhasin, Karan Kundrra, Lakshmi Manchu, Maheep Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabra, Nikita Luther, Purav Jha, Raftaar, Raj Kundra, Sahil Salathia, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sufi Motiwala, and Uorfi Javed. On July 3, the finale episode was released, and we have winners following non-stop drama and arguments.

The Traitors India Review

Whenever a show or movie gets adapted in Bollywood, the first reaction from netizens is: 'Will that live up to the original?' That was the same case for Karan Johar's The Traitors India. It was compared to Bigg Boss, Spiltsvilla, Khatron Ke Khiladi, and even Squid Game at the beginning, but gradually, the game show captured everyone's hearts due to its engaging setting, contestants' love-and-hate relationships, non-stop arguments, drama, and betrayals. In one word, The Traitors India Season 1 is successful.

At the beginning, Karan Johar chose three traitors: Raj Kundra, Purav Jha, and Elnaaz Norouzi. They have the right to 'murder' one innocent person each night, but at the Circle of Shaq, everyone can cast their vote against the person whom they think is the traitor. This way, both innocents and traitors got a fair chance. With mind-blowing logic and calculation, Apoorva Mukhija caught Raj Kundra and said that he is a traitor. Hearing her point, everybody believed her and voted against Raj. Thus, Raj was the first traitor to be eliminated. After several eliminations featuring innocents, Elnaaz, another traitor, got evicted, and everybody was shocked because nobody doubted Elnaaz for a moment.

Following a lot of arguments, doubts, and betrayals, we had Harsh Gujral (traitor), Apoorva Mukhija, Jasmine Bhasin, Nikita Luther, Purav Jha (traitor), Uorfi Javed, and Sudhanshu Pandey till the 9th episode. But during the Circle of Shaq, Apoorva and Harsh got the most votes, and at the end, Apoorva was eliminated because Uorfi voted against her.

The Traitors India Episode 10

During the 10th, aka finale episode, Uorfi overheard a conversation between Harsh and Purav, which made her believe that they are the traitors and are conspiring against her. So she made a reverse decision. She convinced the remaining contestants that Purav is a traitor, and at the Circle of Shaq, Purav was eliminated with the most votes, but with a twist. Nobody could know whether Purav was a traitor or an innocent to maintain the suspense of the final round.

It indeed felt like Uorfi was a manipulator, just the way she managed to convince every player. Truly, she played with her mind and good calculation. After all, it's a survival game where trust is rare and betrayal is everywhere.

When the final round came, we had Uorfi, Sudhanshu, Harsh, and Nikita. KJo announced that at the end, if there are two players and one of them is a traitor, the prize money will be given to the traitor. After a Shakk and Trust game, Sudhanshu and Harsh were eliminated. When Karan asked Nikita and Uorfi to reveal their true selves, whether they are innocent or traitors, both of them said that they are innocent. Thus, The Traitors India Season 1 got two winners: Uorfi Javed and Nikita Luther. They got 70 lakhs and 5 thousand rupees as prize money.

To be honest, the whole The Traitors India Season 1 was engaging, but talking about the winners, Uorfi somehow deserves but Nikita? She was not even properly visible in the game, and won the show by pure luck. On the other hand, the way Apoorva, Purav, or even Elnaaz played, they deserved to win the show.

Anyway! We wait for The Traitors India Season 2. KJo and Prime Video announced that it is in development.

The Traitors India Verdict

Karan Johar's The Traitors India deserves a clap for making it worth watching, engaging, and addictive. As the episodes unfolded, we wanted more of it. Glad that The Traitors India has been made, and the second season is in development. Meanwhile, even though Uorfi Javed and Nikita Luther won season 1, Apoorva Mukhija, Purav Jha, and Elnaaz Norouzi deserve praise and special mentions for their mind games and strategies throughout the show.
