Tandav is a political drama and thriller which introduces the viewer to the nefarious stunts pulled by politicians in the world's largest democracy. A young politician, Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan) is slated to take over from the Prime Minister who happens to also be his father (Kumud Mishra), but unforeseen circumstances lead to unexpected turns. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar (Tiger Zinda Hai), the show takes a surprising turn when the soon-to-be king decides to become the kingmaker. This nine-episode series also includes talented actors such as Dimple Kapadia, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kritika Kamra, Gauhar Khan and Sunil Grover.

Tandav’s insistence on clinging to formulaic telling, with its staccato cutting back and forth from the ‘satta ke galiyaare’ to the ‘chahal pahal’ of the student arcades, lets down its characters, and dilutes its impact.
At heart, Tandav is a thriller, set in a Congress-era world in which a Cabinet portfolio is the height of ambition.
