IMDb has released a list of 10 most anticipated movies. While Dune 2 leads, the other nine are equally exciting.

The year 2024 has officially begun, and the past five days have helped us process this information well. So now we can safely say we are ready to see what the year has in store for us. While we cannot guess what is waiting for us in the real world, the stock for the reel world is already full. After what felt like a trying and testing year, the West has multiple big tentpole projects lined up this year. IMDb has released a list of the 10 most anticipated movies, and Dune: Part Two is leading the race, deservingly so.

This year is going to be on pause for both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DCU. Both studios are busy shaping their respective universes in a new light and giving them a good and unique direction. This means that the superhero content on the list is not overpowering. Now, as per the list, it has all kinds of content, including a sci-fi epic follow-up, a prequel to one of the best cinematic films ever made in world cinema, and more.

So, as Dune: Part Two and Joker: Folie à Deux win the race for the most anticipated movie, let’s have a look at the other 8 that have followed them on the list.

Dune: Part Two

Cast: Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Florence Pugh, and team.

Director: Denis Villeneuve.

Release Date: March 15, 2024.

Taking the story ahead, Dune: Part Two will delve deeper into the conflict that was introduced in Dune: Part One. The highlight of Part Two is the fact that we will get to see more of Zendaya and also understand what her story is. It is a revenge drama this time around, and the intrigue around the same has helped the movie be on top.

Joker: Folie à Deux

Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, and ensemble.

Director: Todd Phillips

Release Date: October 4, 2024.

A dark musical, with Lady Gaga turning Harley Quinn into Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, is not enough to make this the most anticipated movie. The film that marks Joaquin’s second outing as Joker after winning an Oscar for the first will be one of the first releases in DC’s Elseworlds wing, and it will be interesting to see what trajectory it now follows.

Argylle

Cast: Henry Cavill, Sofia Boutella, Catherine O’Hara, and team.

Director: Matthew Vaughn.

Release Date: February 2, 2024.

It is Henry Cavill’s return to the screen after being shown the door as Superman and quitting The Witcher. The anticipation is to see what the actor has to offer with this new IP that will have him as a spy novelist who gets intrigued by the activities of an underground syndicate and soon decides to investigate.

Beetlejuice 2

Cast: Jenna Ortega, Catherine O’Hara, Willem Dafoe, Winona Ryder, and team.

Director: Tim Burton.

Release Date: September 6, 2024.

When Tim Burton chooses to make Beetlejuice, you have no option but to surrender to his idea, which is filled with eccentric turns and twists. If this is the year he makes his most popular IP come back with one of the most popular young stars, we are certainly excited to see what he has in store. Add to this, some old friends have joined him too, and we are already on board.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Cast: Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Charlee Fraser, and team.

Release Date: May 24, 2024.

The mystery surrounding the most amazing but mystic Mad Max character is about to be solved. Furiosa is here to show us her roots and what she is looking for. Her quest for home is about to get a reason. The trailer has a whole lot of exciting things to offer, and we cannot wait to see what Miller has in store for us.

Deadpool 3

It’s Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman making their MCU debut together in the only Marvel release of the year. If a studio is so sure about a movie that they will dedicate an entire year to it, who are we to not be excited about it? The movie will not just be a threequel but also offer a big window into the world of mutants and their full-fledged entry into the MCU.

Madame Web

Cast: Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, and team.

Release Date: February 16, 2024.

When Cassandra Webb starts showing signs of clairvoyance, the world changes for her. She now has a superpower and has to track her past to know what exactly is happening. Alongside this, she also has to save three young women from an assassin who wants to kill them.

Mean Girls

Kraven the Hunter

Said to be one of the most prominent Spider-Man villains, Kraven The Hunter traces the story of Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff who sets out on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world. The movie has been one of the most anticipated films in the superhero realm for a while.
