2018 star Tovino Thomas calls RRR director SS Rajamouli, a true inspiration for every filmmaker

The team of the survival thriller, helmed by Jude Anthany Joseph, addressed the media in Hyderabad today

2018 has emerged as one of the highest grossers in the history of Malayalam cinema with the survival thriller, helmed by Jude Anthany Joseph, now raking in more than 150 crore at the box office. The film, which stars Tovino Thomas in the lead, revolves around the Kerala floods that battered the state in 2018.

The makers have now released the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film and both opened to fantastic reviews from the audience. Tovino Thomas, who addressed the media in Hyderabad today said that a huge credit goes to RRR filmmaker SS Rajamouli.

Speaking on the occasion, Tovino said, "The term pan-India was coined after Bahubali was released. Thanks to Rajamouli sir. And now, he is taking Telugu cinema to another level and it has got global visibility after RRR. The way his movies are made, the way he showcases his movies and ensures that the film reaches every part of the world, is amazing."

He added, "He is a true inspiration for every filmmaker in every nook and corner of India, to follow his footsteps, chase their dreams and make movies that are appreciated all over the world. I really believe the Indian film industry has that potential to be big. Many industries are producing amazing movies and I am sure in the coming years we are going to see amazing responses from all over the world."

The film had a decent opening in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and raked in around Rs 90 lakh at the box office. The team threw a surprise by turning up at the First Day First Show of the film at Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai yesterday. STR 48 director Desingh Periyasamy met them at the theatre.

Music for the film is by Nobin Paul and William Francis, cinematography by Akhil George and editing by Chaman Chakko. The thriller has been bankrolled by Kavya Film Company and PK Prime Production.
