Bobby Deol, who has become synonymous with Baba Nirala because of his role in the web series Aashram originally thought he would play the role of a cop in the show. The role of the cop eventually went to Darshan Kumaar, while Bobby shines as Baba Nirala. Bobby Deol thought Prakash Jha would offer him police officer in Aashram
Bobby Deol revealed to ANI that when he was offered Aashram, he believed that following stereotype, Prakash Jha would probably offer him the role of a police officer. Thus, when offered the role of the Godman, the actor was pleasantly surprised. “When I got the message from Prakash ji that he wanted to meet me (and) when I heard the story, I thought he would offer me the role of the police officer. However, when he told me ‘Aap baba ka role karenge,’ I couldn’t believe it,” he said.
Aashram marked Bobby Deol’s OTT debut
Aashram came to Bobby Deol when nothing else worked for him. The actor proved his mettle as an actor with the show and thus, he became an OTT star by playing Baba Nirala. The series sees Deol in various shades, and is known for its content, in particular the execution of the already intriguing storyline.
Bobby Deol finds theatrical success too with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal
While still continuing work on Aashram, Bobby Deol found success in theatres as well. The actor's last appearance was in the role of Abrar. He was the lead antagonist in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal and gave tough competition to Ranbir Kapoor's Ranvijay Singh. The character, while unlikely to continue in Animal Park, is immortalized among fans of the film's universe.
Aashram season 3 part 2, also featuring Aaditi Pohankar and Chandan Roy Sanyal in the lead roles, is scheduled to release on Amazon MX Player on February 28.
