Launched in December 2021, And Just Like That... returned to Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte's (Kristin Davis) lives as they navigated the intricacies of friendship, love, and life in their 50s. Darren Star's Sex and the City inspired by Candace Bushnell's book, persisted for years following the events of the second series.
Season one focused on Carrie's grief over Mr. Big's (Chris Noth) death, Miranda's journey through a personal identity shift and relationship with Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), and Charlotte's struggle to juggle parenthood with her other responsibilities. In 2023's second season, Carrie and Aidan reunited (John Corbett), Che and Miranda's relationship developed, and Charlotte's family life continued to play a major role. Charlotte juggles job and home duties, Miranda tries new relationships, and Carrie moves on from Aidan in Season 3.
Despite the varying reviews and ratings, the producers decided to conclude the revival on a positive note. A person acquainted with the decision told Deadline, "The storytelling no longer felt as urgent," and they went on to say that the characters' arcs had mostly been resolved.
John Melfi, Parker, Davis, Nixon, Julie Rottenberg, and Elisa Zuritsky were executive producers on And Just Like That... which King also developed. Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, Logan Marshall-Green, Dolly Wells, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, David Eigenberg, and Evan Handler are among the ensemble cast members featured in the last season.
The two-part series finale will close the book on a franchise that revolutionised the way women, friendships, and contemporary relationships were portrayed on television, ushering in a new cultural age that started in 1998.
