The first of the three major star releases, Darshan’s The Devil will be in theatres on December 11, while the second, Kiccha Sudeep’s Mark released its trailer ahead of its December 25 outing and has already set expectations. That leaves composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45, which was meant to be in theatres in August, but had to be postponed owing to VFX completion delays. Arjun’s film, which stars Shivarajkumar, Raj B Shetty and Upendra in the lead is VFX heavy, as it is a fantasy drama, for which worlds had to be created.

Arjun had given audiences a glimpse of what’s in store in an earlier teaser, and is now set to show them a little more with the trailer that is dropping on December 15. The debutant filmmaker and producer Ramesh Reddy had announced the date earlier and that the launch will happen at an event in Bengaluru, which will be live streamed to theatres in 7 other languages for the benefit of fans who want to see it on a big screen.

While the time of the event is yet to be announced, earlier today, Arjun revealed that the trailer will drop online on December 15 at 8.01 pm. He posted this along with an image of himself completing the sound mix for the YouTube version of the trailer.

45 is a film that Arjun wrote after he lost his brother to Covid-19 during the pandemic. This loss and his own tryst with mortality, having suffered a heart attack, brought up existential questions in the filmmaker. It was during this introspection and reflection that the basic idea of 45 came up, which he then developed into a full-fledged story. The filmmaker has hinted that the story is steeped in tenets of Sanatana Dharma.

This led to speculation that the film revolves around the 45 days after a person’s death, which determine if the soul moves into the afterlife or is reborn. Raj B Shetty’s soul is at the centre of a tussle between Shivarajkumar’s and Upendra’s characters, one looking at saving him and the other not.
