The impact of Raanjhanaa

Back when it released 12 years back, Raanjhanaa received extreme views. Either the film was loved or hated. It received immense love from those who could relate to Kundan (Dhanush)'s story, that of being friendzoned (by Sonam Kapoor’s Zoya) so hard that there is just no way out. Among those who hated the movie were the critics who perceived it as a film on stalking and obsessive one-sided love that was toxic in every sense. Either way, both the points of view stand true till date.

About Ranjhanaa and the potential for a sequel

Even if Raanjhanaa 2 was often brought up, it was never officially confirmed by the makers. In fact, director Aanand L. Rai had revealed that there could be no sequel given the ending of the film. Now that the makers are celebrating 12 years of the movie in a grand manner, we might just get to see an announcement (maybe a spin-off), but there's still no certainty. The film also starred Abhay Deol, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub and Swara Bhasker in pivotal roles, and whether they could also return if the film gets a sequel/spin-off remains unknown.
