Dude box office collection day 2: After successes of Love Today and Dragon, Pradeep Ranganathan proves his acting once again

Dude, the Tamil romantic entertainer starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, is now running in theatres. While the film made Rs 22 crore worldwide on day one, its two-day collection now stands at Rs 31 crore.

Out of the three prominent Diwali releases in Tamil, Dude has been dominating at the box office. After making an opening of Rs 22 crore worldwide on first day, the film’s collection during two days is Rs 31 crore, as per Sacnilk report. Dude grossed close to Rs 20 crore in India, with majority of share coming from Tamil Nadu's net earnings. However, the film has managed to maintain its opening day collection, of making Rs 10 crore each. Dude is also highest opening for Pradeep so far, and has surpassed Love Today and Dragon on first day.

Dude is yet to witness the Diwali break, which falls on Monday. Given the youthful appeal of the film, and presence of actors like Pradeep and Mamitha who have a huge fan following, Dude is expected to capitalise the festive weekend. However, one has to wait and watch if Dude will exceed Pradeep’s last film Dragon which made Rs 100 crore.

Directed by Keerthiswaran in his directorial debut, Dude revolves around two first cousins and childhood friends Agan and Kural. While one of them secretly harbours feelings for other and proposes, they get rejected. However, after some time, the other falls in love when it becomes too late. With a social message tucked in, Dude explores it in a commercial entertainer form, with the trademark Pradeep Ranganathan’s eccentric acting. Also starring Sarathkumar, Rohini, Hridhu Haroon and others, Dude will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. The film has music by Sai Abhyankkar.
