The Hedge Knight Release Date Confirmed

Looking at the speed at which the Game Of Thrones universe at HBO is expanding, it feels like there will be at least a season of one of the many shows every year for the next decade at least. While House Of The Dragon season 2 awaits us in Summer 2024 , there are 6 more spin-off shows already in the making at the studio. While there is Nine Voyages, there is also the Jon Snow Spin-off, 10,000 Ships, and more. But one making the most noise at this point is The Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms – The Hedge Knight because David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros has just confirmed the release window of the show. The excitement of the fandom has just hit the roof because the release window is way sooner than any of us even imagined it to be.

When Does The Hedge Knight Release?

Commissioned by Warner Bros in early 2023, the show has been in the making for a long while now. But the confirmation only came out recently. Now David Zaslav, who has now spoken about his slate for the next two years as per The Hollywood Reporter, has revealed that the Game Of Thrones prequel show is releasing sooner than we expected. As per him, The Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms – The Hedge Knight will hit Max in late 2025. You read that right. The show is all set to stream next year, which means we have two years of Game Of Thrones content sorted.

Talking about the release window, the Warner Bros boss said, “[Creator and executive producer] George R.R. Martin is in preproduction for the new spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will premiere in late 2025 on Max. Looking ahead, we’ve got one of the best lineups in the history of HBO. This next quarter, we’ll have Hacks and House of the Dragon, followed by DC’s The Penguin and the new Dune series. Then in 2025, we’ll kick off the year with the new season of The White Lotus, followed by The Last of Us and Euphoria, just to name a few.”

What Is The Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms – The Hedge Knight About?

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg, The Hedge Knight is a show that will take us back in time before the events of Game Of Thrones. It talks of the two heroes who came to Westeros and conquered it. The official logline for the show reads, "A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.”

“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” So technically The Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms – The Hedge Knight is set 72 years after the events of House Of The Dragon and 100 years before the events of Game Of Thrones. There are three books in the series Dunk And Egg, and the series is based on the first part.

The Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms – The Hedge Knight Cast, Creator, And Budget

The makers are yet to announce the cast members of The Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms – The Hedge Knight. However, there are not even any rumors about the same. Ira Parker, the writer of Season 1 of House Of The Dragon is on board as the writer and executive producer of The Hedge Knight. Ryan Condal, the showrunner of House Of The Dragon will serve as the executive producer on the show.

Talking about the budget, everything that is attached to Game Of Thrones has been massive. House Of The Dragon season 1 was an almost $200 Million affair for the studio.
