Idli Kadai, the 2025 Tamil drama film starring actor Dhanush who has also helmed the project, debuted in theatres on October 1. The film’s post-theatrical streaming rights have been bagged by a giant platform, which will premiere it once Idli Kadai finishes its theatrical run.

Idli Kadai is a Tamil film which marks the fourth directorial of actor Dhanush. The actor has decided to go with a feel-good drama with Idli Kadai and features a bunch of known faces along with Dhanush himself. It released in theatres on October 1, and following its theatrical run, Idli Kadai will premiere on Netflix. The streaming giant has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film and is expected to premiere it sometime in the first week of November.

The cast of Idli Kadai includes Arun Vijay playing the primary antagonist, while Nithya Menen marks her second collaboration with Dhanush after Thiruchitrambalam. Other cast members of the film are Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Geetha Kailasam, Ilavarasu, Shalini Pandey, Samuthirakani, Parthiban and others.

Idli Kadai is set to capitalise on the pooja holidays and Gandhi Jayanthi, which gives the film a chance to run during the long weekend. However, it also has to compete at the box office with Kantara: Chapter 1.

Idli Kadai revolves around Murugan, son of Sivanesan, who owns a humble yet iconic idli eatery in their village. As Murugan leaves his hometown to pursue big dreams, years later, he visits his native and tries to revive his father’s eatery to its full glory. Idli Kadai has music by GV Prakash, and is shot by cinematographer Kiran Koushik. G.K. Prasanna is the editor.

With Dhanush serving as one of the producers of the film, the actor has already shown his versatility as director by making gangster actioner Raayan, Gen Z drama Nilavuku Enmel Enadi Kobam and romantic family drama Pa Paandi.
