Actor Rajinikanth, who was recently seen in Coolie, is next working on the sequel to his 2023 film Jailer. Titled Jailer 2, the film will mark the reunion of the superstar with filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar, who helmed the first part as well. Recently, speaking to the media, Rajinikanth confirmed that Jailer 2 will release on June 12 in theatres next year.

Jailer 2 release date revealed!

Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, is currently under production. The recent location for the shooting to take place is in Kerala. Speaking to the reporters, Rajinikanth revealed that Jailer 2 will release in theatres on June 12, 2026. The superstar’s release date revelation comes before the official announcement through the production house.

Jailer 2 is expected to be on the lines of the first part, an action-comedy film. Nelson Dilipkumar returns to the director’s chair, as the film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander. With the first part having a star-studded ensemble, the second part is also expected to have actors from different industries. The plot has not yet been revealed.

Jailer revolved around a retired jailer who has to come to terms with a wrathful smuggler who has kidnapped his son. Rajinikanth to collaborate with Kamal Haasan

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth also recently confirmed that talks are on to reunite with his long-term friend and actor Kamal Haasan. While the director, story, and others on the team have yet to be decided, Rajinikanth said that they had been wanting to work together for years, and have decided it’s a good time to be back together. Directors Lokesh Kanagaraj, Pradeep Ranganathan, and others are speculated to be in contention to direct the project.
