Junior is Kriti Reddy‘s debut film, directed by Radhakrishna, and released with good hype in both Telugu and Kannada. The family drama has completed its first weekend at the box office. Though the film started on a slow note, decent word of mouth helped it gain momentum.

Junior day 3 collections

According to the latest update, Junior collected ₹2.3 crore net on its third day (Sunday), making it the film’s best day. On day one, it made ₹1.5 crore, and on day two, it collected ₹1.6 crore. With this, the total weekend collection has crossed ₹5.5 crore net. These are decent numbers for a debutant, especially with Genelia Deshmukh and Sreeleela drawing audiences to theatres.

The first half of Junior revolves around a college drama, while the second half shifts into a complete family drama. Genelia plays Kriti Reddy’s sister in the film, which also features Kannada actor V Ravichandran in a key role. Famous Telugu producer Sai Korrapati supported the film on a large scale.

Kriti Reddy has passed the test with flying colors, as everyone who watched the film praised her performance, whether it be her dances, dialogue delivery, or screen presence; Kriti has impressed one and all. Genelia Deshmukh also made a comeback to Telugu cinema after 13 years, and her performance is another highlight of the film.

Real test for Kireeti starts now

Now that the first weekend is done, we need to see how the film performs during the weekdays. However, the makers aren’t too concerned about the budget and recovery, as the film was intended mainly as a launch vehicle for Kriti Reddy. The makers are yet to lock an OTT partner, but an early OTT release could help earn more revenue.

Compared to its Kannada version, Junior has performed better in Telugu. Kriti Reddy, though born and raised in Karnataka, saw lower buzz and poor openings there. But in Telugu states, thanks to DSP's superhit songs, the film opened quite well. Let’s see how much the film collects in the days to come.
