Kaalidhar Laapata takes place in rural India and tells the story of two unusual travellers who form an unlikely bond and ultimately succeed in escaping and surviving. The elderly Kaalidhar, played by Bachchan is seen running away from his family after he gets to know they are plotting to remove him from the picture. He doesn't bother to wait for their decision; he just stops being a part of their lives.
Ballu, an inquisitive and energetic orphan portrayed by Daivik Bhagela, is someone he meets early on in his escape. What starts as a random meeting soon turns into a fascinating journey, brimming with subtle humour, lost buses, intellectual sidetracks, and a deepening bond between two individuals from quite different realms. They set out on a journey to fulfil an impromptu bucket list, and each visit strengthens their friendship.

Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub also stars alongside them, taking up the task of finding Kaalidhar after his family informs him that he has gone missing.
Humour and seriousness coexist in the trailer's tone, which alludes to the themes of loss, isolation, and redemption. Subtly buried inside a storyline meant to appeal to people of all ages is a criticism of the way families and society treat people as they age.
Emmay Entertainment producer Monisha Advani said in a statement that this is an incredibly special film, their third collaboration with the kind folks at Zee and their first with the uber talented Abhishek Bachchan. She said that they are all captivated by the story, and it is with great pleasure that they share this extraordinary friendship and optimism from India with the world.
As far as anyone can determine, Kaalidhar Laapata continues director Madhumita's tradition of combining comedic elements with serious emotional themes. The film is adapted from her 2019 hit film, K.D.
Beginning July 4, Kaalidhar Laapata will be available exclusively on Z5.
