KD The Devil is Dhruva Sarja’s next, directed by Prem, who’d earlier made The Villain with Sudeep

Two months ago, it was reported that Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep had been roped in for a pivotal cameo in Dhruva Sarja’s next, KD The Devil. It was said that Sudeep would shoot his portions by the end of July and that the Prem directorial would be set for a September theatrical outing. While the shoot did not happen then, Sudeep’s inclusion on the cast had been confirmed and he has now joined the set of KD.

The team took to social media to officially welcome Sudeep to the world of KD, which also includes the likes of Sanjay Dutt, V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Shilpa Shetty and Reeshma Nanaiah, among others. At a recent public event, Prem had been asked about a potential release window for KD, considering that after Kantara Chapter 1 on October 2, the next major film from Kannada was only on December 12, when Darshan Thoogudeepa’s The Devil comes out.
Prem had said that he would target a good date somewhere in between and hinted at a possible Deepavali release for the film. The filmmaker has kept details about Sudeep’s role under wraps, but KD The Devil is a gangster tale set in the 70s, so chances are that he’s either someone in the underworld or, perhaps, a cop. Interestingly, Sudeep has shot these portions with the look that he’s currently sporting for his next solo release, Mark, which he has announced as a Christmas 2025 theatrical film. Fans are hopeful that Sudeep’s cameo will be impactful and ultra mass.

The inclusion of Sudeep’s portions should conclude the principal photography of KD The Devil. Prem, it was reported, had been working on the post-production of the rest of the film, including the music. Netizens reckon that a Deepavali release maybe difficult, since it is only a little over a month away, and that the team is looking at giving the film a pan-India release, which requires ample promotions, especially in markets outside of Karnataka.
