Lokah box office collection day 19: Kalyani Priyadarshan’s latest film has broken yet another record at the ticket window. With a worldwide collection of Rs 249 crore, the Dominic Arun directorial has become the second-highest-grossing Malayalam film, beating Chidabaram’s survival thriller Manjummel Boys. The woman superhero film is just Rs 17 crore behind Mohanlal-starrer Empuraan, which tops the list of highest-grossing films in Malayalam.

The 2025 Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra has become the second-highest-grossing Malayalam film on day 19 at the box office, surpassing Manjummel Boys’s total worldwide collections of Rs 240.5 crore. Lokah’s total collections now stand at Rs 249 crore, as per Sacnilk. Backed by actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan, Lokah would be eying the next big record of Empuraan, which has a total collection of Rs 266.81 crore, according to the Sacnilk website. Empuraan, helmed by actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran, released in theatres on March 27, 2025, took the box office by storm and beat the 2024 hit Manjummel Boys to become the top grosser in Malayalam. On day 18, Lokah had surpassed the earnings of Thudarum another Mohanlal film.

On the other hand, Kalyani’s superhero film, however, saw a dip in earnings with Rs 2.65 crore earned on Monday in India net collections, taking the total domestic figure to Rs 122.05 crore. Lokah, an Onam release can continue its good run at the box office as no major Malayalam films are lined up to release in the coming weeks.

The other Onam releases failed to pose any challenge to Lokah, with only Mohanlal-led Hridayapoorvam turning out decent numbers. Directed by the veteran Sathyan Anthikad, the feel-good film of Hridayapoorvam has made Rs 67.75 crore at the box office so far. Fahadh Faasil’s Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, which also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Maine Pyar Kiya are the two other Onam releases with both failing to make any impact at the box office.
