The fantasy thriller is gaining popularity nationwide, particularly for setting a new benchmark for Malayalam filmmaking. It has now been verified that within six days of its theatrical debut, Lokah brought in over Rs 100 crore at the box office globally.

Lokah crosses Rs 100 crore milestone

Due to the tremendous demand in theatres, the fantasy thriller made over Rs 32 crore in Kerala on its sixth day at the box office, with more shows over the weekend. Industry tracker Sacnilk now claims that Lokah has made over Rs 101 crore globally. Based on this overall earnings, it has also become the highest-grossing South Indian film with a female actress in the lead, followed by Rudramadevi, featuring Anushka Shetty, and Mahanati, starring Keerthy Suresh.

To see a film led by a female protagonist do these numbers means everything. May this open doors for more stories featuring women front and centre. May it pave the way for more women to work in all domains of cinema," wrote the film's co-writer and actress Santhy Balachandran. This film is supported by Dulquer Salmaan, who also appears in a cameo with Tovino Thomas and other notable actors in Malayalam.
