Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra released in theatres on August 28, 2025, narrating the tale of a woman superhero, the first of its kind in Malayalam cinema. Now actress Parvathy Thiruvothu, who has been vocal about the lack of strong women characters in Malayalam films, has hailed Kalyani Priyadarshan in a social media post.

“"Embodying the myth. The legend, The Truth. Chandra lives among us now thanks to your grit and hard work,” the Ullozhukku actress wrote on her Instagram stories. Kalyani re-shared Parvathy's message on her Instagram stories, and thanked the senior actress.

Parvathy also had only good words to speak about the film's co-writer Santhy Balachandran. "Kudos to your work in the creation of Lokah. Locked and hooked in the arc and well, there is always what I believe what your unique gaze bring to this story,” she added, tagging the actress-screenwriter.

Though Malayalam cinema is known for its realistic portrayal of relevant stories, there has been a criticism that not many woman-centric films are being made in recent times. Parvathy, who is also an active member of the Women in Cinema Collective, has been vocal about this as well. With Lokah, Malayalam finally gets a woman superhero and what is even more encouraging is that a female writer is on board, ensuring that the female gaze does not get lost.

Contrary to the fate of typical women-centric films that almost die with a festival run, Lokah has been a winner at the box office.
