Maadeva on OTT: It was earlier reported that the streaming rights of Maadeva had been picked up by Zee Network, but that did not pan out

Kannada actor Vinnod Prabhakar’s Maadeva, which had him in the role of a hangman, was reported to be OTT bound in early August. But nearly a month later, there was no sign of the film on any platform. It was said that the Naveen Reddy directorial’s satellite and digital rights had been picked by Zee Network and August 8 was the streaming premiere date on Z5. When the film didn’t drop on the platform, questions arose about its OTT plans.

Turns out, the contract with the network did not pan out and the makers of Maadeva have now shopped it elsewhere. Maadeva has now been picked up by Cinebazzar OTT and will likely be available on the platform from September 12, 2025. The platform, which earlier dealt only with transactional video on demand, now also has a subscription plan. While rental of Maadeva will cost a user Rs 49, a 3-month subscription is available at the same price point, which will give users access to films like Sanju Weds Geetha 2, Kappu Bilupina Naduve, Langotiman, Bond Ravi, DilKush and many more.

Maadeva, written by Naveen, also stars Shruthi Krishna, Sringara Kitty, Achyuth Kumar and Malashri, among others. Vinnod played the title character Maadevaa, a man devoid of all emotion, on account of his occupation and deep-buried trauma. A man of few words, numb to all around him, until he meets Parvathi (Sonal Monteiro), who sees Maadeva as the only hope to meet her estranged, jailed mother. How she becomes the catalyst in Maadeva’s transformation, forms the crux of the story.

According to Vinnod, Maadeva was the first film in his career that allowed him to flex his acting chops and went beyond only fight and song routines. Reviews of the film also highlighted it as his career best performance, but stated that the film had issues.
