Maareesan trailer out: Set to hit theaters on July 25, the film showcases Fahadh Faasil as a shady character who encounters Vadivelu, an Alzheimer's patient, with a scheme to rob him

The trailer of Maareesan, the upcoming Tamil film starring actors Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in the lead roles, was released by the makers on social media. The film is slated for a theatrical release on July 25.

We had earlier reported that actors Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil will be reuniting once again for the Tamil film Maareesan. The duo earlier shared the screen space in the 2023 film Maamannan, in which they played characters opposite to each other. In Maareesan, Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil will reunite for the thriller drama. The makers released the trailer of the film on social media on Monday.

The trailer begins with eerie music, followed by Fahadh Faasil's character, who appears to be shady. He soon meets Vadivelu with loads of cash near an ATM. With Fahadh Faasil offering Vadivelu a lift to drop him in Thiruvanamalai, we come to know that the latter is an Alzheimer's patient. We see the duo sharing many moments, as the cops are tracking a motorcycle. We see that Fahadh Faasil is appearing to trap Vadivelu, to loot his money, as we see them sharing many endearing moments as well.

Directed by Sudheesh Sankar, who is known for helming Malayalam television shows, the film is bankrolled by RB Choudhary under Super Good Films. It will release in theatres on July 25.

Apart from Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil, the film also features known actors including Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, PL Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja. Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Maareesan. After the theatrical run, the film will be available to stream.

Maareesan plot revealed

Maareesan will be a thriller drama with a slow-burn take. Vadivelu will be playing the role of an old man with fading memories as he gets noticed by Fahadh Faasil’s character who has eyes on robbing his money. As the latter suggests that he drops him, Maareesan is about how the drama plays out between the two men.

The music for Maareesan is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja with Kalaiselvan Sivaji cranking the camera. Sreejith Sarang is the editor. The story, screenplay and dialogues have been penned by V Krishna Moorthy who is also the creative director.
