We had earlier reported that actor Karthi will be starring in director Tamizh’s upcoming directorial Marshal. The film’s production is underway, with the director revealing the release plans for the coast-based drama, at a recent awards function.

Marshal is an upcoming Tamil film starring Karthi in the lead role. The film is written and directed by filmmaker Tamizh who has previously made cop drama Taanakkaran. He had also written the critically acclaimed film Sirai.
Now, with the upcoming directorial, Marshal is expected to hit theatres this year. Participating at a recent awards function, Tamizh gave an update. “We have finished two shooting schedules and have shot for about48 days. We will start the next schedule very soon. We will arrive for Diwali,” Tamizh said. He also confirmed that Marshal will be a period drama and said that the film is set in the 1960s backdrop.
Marshal is expected to be a coast-based drama, with the plot of the film yet to be revealed. Besides Karthi, the film also stars Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Lal, John Kokken, Murali Sharma, Easwari Rao and others. Sai Abhyankkar is scoring music for the film, while it is shot by cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan and edited by Philomin Raj.
Meanwhile, you can stream Sirai , the 2025 crime cop drama which was written by Tamizh. Directed by Suresh Rajakumari, the film is based on true events and revolves around a cop who must produce a young man accused of murder to a local court. It is available on ZEE5 and for subscribers of OTTplay Premium. Starring Vikram Prabhu, LK Akshay Kumar, Anishma Anilkumar and others, Sirai had opened to good reviews for its performance, writing, and depicting the real-life process of escort cops. Tamizh being a former cop himself, had drawn from the experience he had.
