Masthishka Maranam: Lokah co-writer Santhy turns Veda in Krishand film, terms it her 'most insincere character'

The team of Masthishka Maranam has now revealed Santhy Balachandran's character, Veda, from the upcoming Malayalam movie, helmed by noted director Krishand. The film releases on February 27, 2026.

The upcoming Malayalam film Masthishka Maranam marks the return of actress Santhy Balachandran to the front of the camera after much of last year saw her toiling in the background as co-writer and dramaturg of the blockbuster film Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra. The makers of Masthishka Maranam have now revealed her character, Veda, from the upcoming movie, helmed by noted director Krishand.

What is Santhy Balachandran’s role in Masthishka Maranam

Actress Santhy Balachandran plays Veda in Masthishka Maranam and her character poster was dropped on February 23. The actress seems to have an unique appearance in the film. “Veda takes credit when it works, vanishes when it fails, and calls herself a genius,” read the caption on Instagram.

Santhy Balachandran also reshared the poster on her Instagram Stories, and said, “Meet Veda - the most insincere character I have ever played.”

Santhy had previously collaborated with Krishand on the series 4.5 Gang which is streaming on SonyLiv via OTTplay Premium.

On the other hand, Santhy is also working on the second installment of the Lokah franchise, Lokah Chapter 2 with actor Tovino Thomas in the lead. Lokah actress Kalyani Priyadarshan had earlier said that the process of scripting is still underway.

When is Masthishka Maranam releasing

Masthishka Maranam will release in theatres on February 27, 2026. Written and helmed by Krishand, Masthishka Maranam is a cyberpunk movie set in 2046. The film follows a youth living in a vertical slum-like area and will also feature his interactions with a superstar actress.

Masthishka Maranam features Rajisha Vijayan in the lead role of Frida Soman.
