The trailer from director Krishand’s upcoming film Masthishka Maranam, starring actress Rajisha Vijayan, has been unveiled. The film takes viewers straight to 2046, where a superstar actress is on the run. Another experimental film from Krishand, Masthishka Maranam promises to be a fun, retro-futuristic film, which hits theatres on February 27, 2026.

The Masthishka Maranam trailer begins with a shot of the city with a flying car. The film is set in 2046, and more importantly, in the Lower Kochi area in Kerala. Actress Rajisha Vijayan makes an entry as the superstar actress Frida, who rues that the award mementoes are in the shape of men and that she would only accept one when it comes in a female shape. Clearly, Krishand takes a dig at cinema and the award culture.

The glimpse is filled with people in gaming mode, with HMD (head-mounted display) devices, even as the language stays the Malayalam of today’s times. The trailer then talks about the superstar being accused in a sensational case as more actors, Jagadish, Niranj, Suresh Krishna, Divya Prabha and Sanju Sivram enter the frame. The trailer ends with Divya Prabha’s character informing that many politicians and film personalities applied for anticipatory bail, and the site crashed, so she could not get the bail for the superstar.

The film takes us on a wild ride to a near future where technology is much more advanced, but today’s realities of corruption and chaos continue to rule. But the trailer, with its eclectic colours and witty dialogue, hints that Masthishka Maranam will also be high on dry humour. Krishand is known for his distinctive approach to filmmaking with movies such as Aavasavyuham and Purusha Pretham.
