A complex and malicious AI known as the "Entity" has penetrated intelligence networks around the world, and the protagonist, Hunt, and his Impossible Missions Force (IMF) squad are on a frantic quest to stop it. The Entity's ultimate goal is to trigger a nuclear holocaust by taking over the world's nuclear systems. Before the AI can carry out its last, disastrous plan, Hunt must track down Gabriel (Esai Morales), a character from his past who serves as its liaison, to acquire a key and a device known as the "Podkova" to create a "poison pill" that will kill it.

Stellar ensemble cast

Cruise is accompanied by a terrific ensemble cast that you may recognise. Returning franchise veterans include Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, and Henry Czerny reprising his role as Eugene Kittridge, now the Director of the CIA. Grace, played by Hayley Atwell, is a former thief who is now an official member of the IMF team, while Erika Sloane, played by Angela Bassett, is back as the current president of the US. Add dimension and complexity to Hunt's final, globe-trotting mission with the help of newcomers and returning actors like Pom Klementieff (Paris).

One of the most costly films of all time, The Final Reckoning cost an estimated $300–$400 million to make. The film debuted on May 5, 2025, in Tokyo, and on May 23, 2025, it hit theatres in the US. Global production and title change

Several countries were involved in the intricate and protracted production, such as Norway, South Africa, Malta, and England. Principal photography commenced in March 2022, was briefly halted in mid-2023 as a result of the SAG-AFTRA strike, and finally wrapped up in November 2024. The title was officially altered from Dead Reckoning Part Two to The Final Reckoning in late 2024.
