Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph struck gold when he collaborated with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for Drishyam. The 2013 film and its successor Drishyam 2 have tasted unprecedented success, and now the makers have kicked off the third installment of the highly anticipated movie in Kerala. Drishyam 3 shoot begins

The shoot of Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal and helmed by Jeethu Joseph, has begun at Law College Poothotta on the outskirts of Kochi city in Kerala. The pooja ceremony was held with the cast and crew in attendance. Lead actor Mohanlal, who was recently conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, was also in attendance for the auspicious ceremony on September 22, 2025. The current plan is to complete the Drishyam 3 shoot within 55 days, Malayalam news channels have reported.

What to expect from Drishyam 3

Drishyam 3 will once again revolve around Georgekutty, which will follow the events that happened four years after the second installment, Jeethu Joseph had earlier revealed. However, Jeethu had clarified that, unlike the first two parts, the third installment would not be a heavy intelligent film. The noted director had also claimed that the upcoming Drishyam would not be a thriller, unlike the other two. But ahead of the part 2 release also, Jeethu had claimed that the film would focus more on the family aspects of Georgekutty. However, when it was released in 2021, the film turned out to be yet another thrilling addition to the Drishyam franchise.

Interestingly, the Drishyam 3 shoot has begun at a law college! Drishyam 2 climax had seen Georgekutty in court, where it is revealed that the body found buried in the police station was not that of Varun (whose disappearance and murder had led the police to corner the middle-class family). The shoot beginning at Law College does hint that Drishyam 3 would include legal aspects as well.
