Mohanlal-starrer Drishyam 3 is yet to go on floors, but the Malayalam film is very much in the spotlight with director Jeethu Joseph already giving tidbits of information in interviews. In one such instance, the Dirshyam director spoke about how people, including Georgekutty’s family, change with time, and this will also reflect in the third part of the hugely popular film series. However, this comment about Georgekutty’s daughters has sparked another speculative theory on whether one of them will betray the family…

Jeethu Joseph on Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3

Drishyam stars Mohanlal as Georgekutty, a commoner, who goes all out to protect his daughters and wife after a murder is committed in his household. Actress Meena plays the wife, while Ansiba Hassan is seen as elder daughter Anju and Esther Anil as the younger Anu.

In a recent interview with World Movie Media, Jeethu Joseph had remarked, “In the third part, there could be differences in the elder and younger daughters. With time and age, they could also change. So what would be the problems when they change, especially in the children?”

Reiterating that people change with time, Jeethu Joseph also said that even he could not predict how Gerogekutty would change in the third part. This remark has led to speculations on whether the younger daughter, Anu, would betray the family or if Georgekutty would finally confess everything.

What is the Drishyam plot?

In the 2013 film Drishyam, Georgekutty’s happy life with his family in a small hill town in Kerala is upended when a youth, who troubles her daughter, is killed. The youth happens to be the son of a top cop, IG Geetha Prabhakar, but Georgekutty outsmarts the police.

In the 2021-released Drishyam 2, it is revealed that the police continue to monitor the family even six years after the first incident, but once again, Georgekutty manages to walk scot-free.

Notably, in the second film, Anu does tell a friend at school about the happenings at her home, and it is revealed that this ‘friend’ was also a ploy set-up by the police. This also adds weight to the argument that she could knowingly or unknowingly bring the downfall of her family.

On the other hand, Drishyam 3 will go on floors this year in October.
