Mohanlal-Major Ravi film is confirmed? Malayalam director says ‘Badda announcement…’

Amid speculations that Major Ravi could helm a film based on Operation Sindoor with Mohanlal, the Malayalam director told media personnel that a big project is coming.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has donned the military uniform in several films such as Keerthi Chakra and Kurukshetra, that were helmed by Major Ravi. There have been speculations that Major Ravi would once again direct Mohanlal in a film with the armed forces setting but there was no official word. Now, the Malayalam director recently teased that a ‘badda announcement’ (big announcement) is on the way.

Malayalam director Major Ravi, who is now seen more in acting roles than filmmaking, is rumoured to be in talks for a film with Mohanlal. Amid speculations that Major Ravi could helm a film based on Operation Sindoor, the Malayalam director told media personnel that a big project is coming.

"A big project is coming.. Let everything fall in place, it would be a Badda announcement. I will call you all for preview," he said. When asked if Mohanlal is playing the lead role, the Keerthi Chakra director laughed and evaded the question.

Major Ravi made his directorial debut with Keerthi Chakra in 2006, which saw Mohanlal playing Major Mahadevan. The actor went on to star in his other films such as Kurukshetra, Kandahar and 1971: Beyond Borders.

Major Ravi also said that his planned project in Hindi is also pending, and it would now be made as a pan-Indian film. Though he said it is the same genre as his other military-based movies, he did not confirm if it was the rumoured Mohanlal project.

Mohanlal, on the other hand, has already released three films this year, all of which turned out to be hits at the box office. His first film of the year was Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Though the Lucifer sequel turned out to be a success, the Mohanlal-starrer faced much criticism from the right-wing sections. Major Ravi had then come out in defence of Mohanlal, but the actor had not publicly responded to the director's statements.
