With Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam 3, Mammootty-starrer Patriot, along with star cameos in four films, Mohanlal seems to have a packed schedule. Drishyam 3

Drishyam 3 is not just Mohanlal’s most-awaited film, but it is the highly anticipated Malayalam movie of 2026. With Jeethu Joseph once again helming the thriller, Mohanlal would be back as Georgekutty who is ready to go to any extent to protect his family from law. The Malayalam film has already wrapped up shooting but a release date is yet to be announced. Drishyam 3 in Hindi, led by Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, has announced October 2, 2026, as its release date.

Patriot

The upcoming Malayalam film Patriot, stars Mammootty in the lead along with Mohanlal in another key role. Director Mahesh Narayanan had earlier confirmed that Mohanlal would be seen in a full-fledged role, and the action sequence of the superstar from the Patriot teaser was much-talked-about. Patriot is also one of the most ambitious films from Malayalam, as it brings together a slew of big names, including Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara. Patriot is scheduled as a summer 2026 release.

Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy film

After the phenomenal success of Thudarum, Mohanlal and filmmaker Tharun Moorthy are once again joining hands. Ishq writer Ratheesh Ravi would be scripting the upcoming film. Earlier, another film, L365, was announced with Mohanlal and Austin Dan that was to be produced by Ashiq Usman. However, that project was reportedly dropped but the new Mohanlal-Tharun film is backed by Ashiq Usman.

Mohanlal to make cameos in 4 films in 2026

Khalifa

Khalifa is an upcoming film, starring actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role of Aamir Ali, who is said to be a smuggler. Mohanlal would appear as Ali’s grandfather Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali. Khalifa will release for Onam 2026, Mohanlal had confirmed while revealing his role. The film is directed by filmmaker Vysakh, who had delivered a blockbuster hit Pulimurugan with Mohanlal.

Thudakkam

Thudakkam is a personal project for Mohanlal as the upcoming film marks the debut of his daughter Vismaya. Thudakkam was launched in October and shooting is underway for the film, helmed by 2018 director Jude Anthany Joseph. Mohanlal would be seen in an extended cameo in the film, as per reports. More details about the plot are not known.

Jailer 2

Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth will be back with the sequel of his hit film Jailer, which is a 2026 release though an official date is yet to be announced. Mohanlal who appeared in a cameo role as Matthew in the 2023 film, will be back for Jailer 2 as well. Nelson Dilipkumar helms Jailer 2, which stars Thalaivar as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian. Actors SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, and Yogi Babu are also part of the much-awaited sequel.

Haiwan

Mohanlal is once again joining hands with his friend and frequent collaborator Priyadarshan for the Hindi film Haiwan. Mohanlal will be seen in a cameo in the Bollywood film, which is a remake of his own Malayalam film Oppam, that was also helmed by Priyadarshan. Saif Ali Khan will be seen in the role of a blind man, originally played by Mohanlal, along with Akshay Kumar.
