Mohanlal's Drishyam 3: Jeethu Joseph reveals how they prevented Ajay Devgn-starrer’s team from making an early start

Mohanlal is the man of the moment after his jewellery ad went viral on social media. The Malayalam actor’s most anticipated upcoming film is Drishyam 3, helmed by Jeethu Joseph. Like the Malayalam original, the Hindi version of Drishyam 3 is also set to go on floors soon. But now director Jeethu Joseph has revealed that the makers of the Hindi film, starring Ajay Devgn, had made attempts for an early start, but here’s how they prevented it…

The Drishyam films, starring Mohanlal, have a huge fanbase across the country, with its remakes in other languages also equally popular. Jeethu Joseph, who has helmed the first two installments, is now set to direct the much-anticipated third part. In a recent interview with Mathrubhumi, Jeethu Joseph said that there were demands to start the filming of both Malayalam and Hindi versions together.

"But we have not decided on those matters. There were initially some plans to start in Hindi first, but after a hint was given that this would be dealt with legally, they backed off from it,” he told the Malayalam media house.

While the Malayalam film stars Mohanlal, the Hindi Drishyam stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role. Actors Tabu and Akshaye Khanna also appear in key roles.

Drishyam 3 to start in October 2025

Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph had confirmed that the filming of Drishyam 3 would start in October 2025. Like the first two parts, the film will also be backed by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirwad Cinemas. The announcement was made by the makers on social media, along with a video of the lead actor, director and the producer.

Where to watch Drishyam on OTT

The path-breaking first part of the film series, Drishyam which released in theatres in 2013, can be streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium right now. The second film had a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video during the Covid pandemic in 2021. Apart from Mohanlal as Georgekutty, the film also features Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil as his family. Murali Gopy and Asha Sharath play other key roles.
