Neru – Mohanlal's film witnesses a massive increase in the number of shows across India on New Year weekend

Neru, the Mohanlal starrer which hit the theatres on December 21, Thursday, has been receiving immense love from the audience across the globe. The project, which marked the superstar’s fifth onscreen collaboration with director Jeethu Joseph, has now emerged as the surprise blockbuster of 2023. When it entered the second week of its release, Neru has been making headlines with the massive increase in the number of shows across India.

Neru gets additional shows in Kerala and all major Indian cities

As per the recent updates, Neru has witnessed a massive increase in the number of shows, both in Kerala, and all major Indian cities. Interestingly, this move was made by the distributors and theatre owners outside Kerala on the New Year weekend, after the movie entered the second week of its release. Initially, Neru had a very limited screen count outside Kerala, and this was widely criticized by both the Malayalam-speaking audiences, as well as the cine-goers from the other Indian states.

However, the extraordinary word-of-mouth publicity and excellent reviews have now forced the distributors to rethink their decision. The theatre owners, on the other hand, are even willing to reduce the number of shows of other major releases of the Christmas season, including Salaar and Dunki, to accommodate Mohanlal’s courtroom drama. It is undoubtedly a massive foot for the Jeethu Joseph directorial, which was made with a moderate budget, and hit the theatres without a massive hype.

Neru OTT release – All you need to know

The audiences who have no chance to watch Neru in big screens, however, are eagerly waiting for the OTT release of the Mohanlal starrer. If the reports are to be believed, the courtroom drama will stream on the renowned platform Disney+ Hotstar, immediately after it completes the theatrical run. Earlier, it was reported that Neru will get its OTT release by the end of January 2024.

However, while considering the excellent performance of the film at the box office, there are high chances for its theatrical run to get extended further. The makers are expected to officially announce the OTT platform and release date, in a couple of weeks.
