Jana Nayagan, which was slated for release in January, is yet to make its way to theatres. Starring Vijay and billed to be the actor’s final film before he becomes full time politician, Jana Nayagan has been caught in a row with CBFC as the film’s censor certificate is yet to be issued. Amid this, a post by overseas distributor has gone viral, which says that the film will not release until end of April.

Jana Nayagan release date: Is Vijay’s film postponed for next two months?

Actor Vijay, who is currently rallying ahead of upcoming state elections in Tamil Nadu, has his last film Jana Nayagan yet to be released. Initially slated for January 9 release, the film is facing delay after the censor certificate was not issued by CBFC. It was followed by a legal tussle between the production and censor board at the court, with the recent development being the case withdrawn by the makers.

In between this, a post by Canadian distributor York Cinemas, has been going viral. In its social media handle, a note was posted conveying that Jana Nayagan will not be releasing before April 30, asking patrons to contact the theatres to process the pending tickets and refunds. However, there has been no word from the censor board or makers have come out so far regarding the release date.

Said to be a partial remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, Jana Nayagan is directed by filmmaker H Vinoth and has music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film’s cast also includes Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Prakash Raj, Gautham Menon and others. Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film.
