Why did Shahid Kapoor feel like he was the heroine of the film and not Triptii Dimri?

During his interview with Hindustan Times, Shahid Kapoor confessed to feeling like he was the heroine of the film instead of Triptii Dimri. The actor felt like that given he took longer to get ready and turn up on the sets. Shahid explained what part took the most time. It was getting tattooed up, which took hours. He shared, “The toughest real estate in this film was actually my body! It was covered in tattoos; it would take two and a half hours to put them on before I got on set. Triptii Dimri, my co-star, had a no-makeup look. I told her, “In this film, I am the heroine. Tu toh do minute mein ready ho kar aa jaati hai set pe!”

Shahid Kapoor recalls his biggest challenge – a hip surgery owing to action O’Romeo required

“O’Romeo isn’t like a superhero film where 75% of the work is done by costume and VFX,” Shahid shared, further speaking about action sequences shot at night. “I had undergone major hip surgery during one such sequence. That was very challenging,” he revealed.

Shahid shared his thought process before signing for O’Romeo. The actor wanted to work on an experimental film for the intellectual audience but also one that caters to the masses. The Vishal Bhardwaj directorial, he believes, balanced them both effectively. “This film is an attempt at achieving that; it’s meant for an intelligent audience but also very much like a typical, mass audience,” he stated, while refusing to put O’Romeo in the same bracket as his previous outings like Haider and Kabir Singh.

“Ustraa is a very entertaining character. What’s unique about him is that he is dark yet soft, and can also be very funny. He is a complete laundiyabaaz, yet falls in love to a degree that he loses himself. He’s a gangster but scared of his grandmother, played by Farida Jalal ji,” Shahid shared. Interestingly, Vishal Bhardwaj describes the movie as one that is extreme in terms of love as well as violence.
