Avinash Tiwary, who debuted in a lead role in Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu, transitions into a fierce villain in O’Romeo. Essaying the role of Jalal, Avinash is seen as an archrival to Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri’s characters in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘anti-romance’ film. Taking to social media, the Madgaon Express actor penned a heartfelt note to express gratitude for being a part of the O’Romeo team. He recalled the beautiful fateful moment when he got a call from the Haider director to narrate the ‘larger than life’ villain. He also reflected on the character of Jalal, having an uncanny resemblance to the classic villains like Mogambo (played by Amrish Puri in Mr. India) and Langda Tyag (played by Saif Ali Khan in Omkara).
“I still remember my heart racing and hoping he had something of value for me. I wish i could share what it did to my confidence when he mentioned he wants to create a larger than life Villain, JALAL! Something in between Mogambo and Langda Tyagi,A Character out of his comfort space he said and something that was absolutely beyond my imaginative capabilities at that point.
I remember every inch of me wanting to melt for your imagination to take shape.
I hope i make you proud Sir.”
Avinash also thanked Shahid Kapoor for making him comfortable on the set and being like an ‘elder brother.’
Speaking about Triptii Dimri, his co-star in debut film Laila Majnu and Netflix’s Bulbbul, he said, “@tripti_dimri This is our third and i know so many more to come. Humari Kahani likhi hui hai.”
