Patriot teaser release to coincide with Mammootty's return to sets after 7 months?

Fans of Mammootty are eagerly waiting to see the Malayalam megastar return to a film set after he took a 7-month break from his acting commitments for medical treatment. Now, online trackers have said that Mammootty will be back in action soon and that in Mahesh Narayanan’s directorial film, Patriot. The makers also plan to mark the occasion with a teaser release on October 2.

Mammootty to be back on October 2?

Mammootty, who has not been seen in public for nearly seven months, will be joining the sets of Mahesh Narayanan’s Patriot on October 2, 2025, online reports have claimed. The Patriot teaser is also likely to be released on the same day. However, these reports have not been confirmed by Mammootty’s team or Patriot makers. The Patriot shooting kickstarted in Sri Lanka last year.

Mammootty-Mohanlal in Patriot

Patriot is an upcoming Malayalam film, starring Mammootty and helmed by Mahesh Narayanan. The film also features Mohanlal in a full-length role, along with Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara. Patriot, which was earlier tentatively titled MMMN after the lead stars and the director, brings together Mammootty and Mohanlal back on screen after more than a decade. They have already shot some portions together in the Delhi schedule of Patriot.

The stalwarts of the Malayalam industry were seen in Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty which released in 2013. The film starred Mammootty in the lead role, while Mohanlal made a cameo appearance. Twenty-Twenty, which released in 2008, was the last film in which they both played key roles. Both Mohanlal and Mammootty were also part of Manorathangal, an anthology, but in different segments.

Kalamkaval is an upcoming Mammootty film, slated for release next but an exact date is yet to be announced. Once Mammootty resumes his work commitments, an update on the Kalamkaval release is also expected. Recently, there were also reports that Mammootty will join Khalid Rahman’s film next, which will also feature young star Naslen.

Mammootty had two major releases this year - Bazooka and Dominic and the Ladies' Purse. Both opened to mixed reviews and are yet to make their digital debuts. He also lent his voice for the character Moothon in the recent blockbuster Lokah, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan.
